Add an optional railing to your UDECX Modular Portable Decking System for a traditional look to your deck or patio. The UDECX railing system was designed to provide modular flexibility allowing you to create a custom deck or patio. Each component of the railing system is sold separately. The quantity and type of rails and posts you will need will vary based on how you arrange the surface pads and rails. Typically, for each continuous straight line of railing you will need one Short Rail for one of the Surface Pads. Add one Long Rail per additional Surface Pad in that line. A Long Rail installs across the length of one UDECX Surface Pad and crosses over to the closest mounting point on the next UDECX Surface Pad (40” apart). A 32” Short Rail installs across one UDECX Surface Pad with both mounting points on the same pad (34” apart). Each rail will need a Post on each side, some rails will share a Post. Choose an In-Line Post if you will be connecting two rails in a straight line. Choose a Corner Post if you will be connecting two rails at a 90-degree angle. Choose an End Post for one side of a rail that will not be connected to another rail. A railing mounting kit is included with each post. As an example, if you arrange a 10’x10’ deck as a square you will need the following quantities of rails and posts to add a railing system on three sides of the deck: (6) Long Rails, (3) Short Rails, (6) In-Line Posts, (2) Corner Posts, and (2) End Posts.
