Family-owned and operated Backpacker’s Pantry, and its parent company American Outdoor Products (AOP), is a manufacturer of freeze-dried food based out of Boulder, Colorado. AOP has been owned and operated by the Smith family since 1971. From a humble start as a backpacking food company, and with a father and son leadership team, the company expanded to include Backpacker’s Pantry and Astronaut Foods, Colorado Spice Blending Co., and Chef Soraya.
